The Professor Dr Max Cloëtta Foundation finances medical research positions at Swiss universities, clinics and institutes. The Cloëtta positions for medical research are intended for fully trained and independently working researchers, especially if they are suitable for positions to be created later or that become vacant. By creating long-term research positions, the Professor Dr Max Cloëtta Foundation aims to help counter a shortage of young researchers in Switzerland. Candidates should not be older than 40 years.
The Foundation finances the salary of the beneficiary of Cloëtta research posts, including the employer’s social security contributions. Further project costs are not financed by the foundation.
The contribution awarded to the position holders are gross salaries before deduction of employee contributions. These amount to CHF 102’000 for the first year, CHF 106’100 for the second year, CHF 110’200 for the third year, CHF 114’300 for the fourth year and CHF 118’400 for the fifth year. 18% social security contributions on account as well as child allowance, if applicable, are paid in addition.
The grants are offered every two years, next time in 2022.
The Guidelines on the allocation of research positions have been issued by the Board of the Foundation.
